I’m not dead yet…

I feel happy. I think I’ll go for a walk.

Ok, I am really not up to that. I have the flu. I have spent days lying in bed and I realize now that I should have taken out stock in one of the major tissue companies and some of the pharmaceutical ones as well. I am still trying to figure out which way is up and I hope to be over this soon. Last year I was lucky enough to catch it in time to take the Tamiflu, but my husband was not so lucky. I had to watch him suffer with it for ten days. :( This year I suppose it is my turn.

I’ll be back to blogland soon. Until then, take your vitamins, drink your OJ, and stay healthy. If by chance you do contract the flu, go see your doctor for treatment ASAP…you only have 48 hours to start treatment!  Oh, and do not go out in public. Influenza is serious and can be fatal to children, the elderly, and people with compromised immune systems.

And the winner is…

polka.jpgI worked a long day today, and I just could not wait to get home to find out who would win the bag! I used a random number generator, and the winner is…(drumroll please)…

RACHAEL!!!!! Congratulations! I really hope you enjoy your bag!

I just wish I had enough bags to give one to each of you who took the time to wish me a happy birthday. For those of you who missed out, but would like to help support our adoption, there are a few in the shop with more soon to come.

Birthday Present

polka.jpg

Today is my birthday…to which I say a very non emotional woo-hoo. Not much happy in the birthday. I credit this to my ever ticking biological clock and our still empty nest. My increasing age is an ever present reminder that if we plan to raise children before we retire we should hurry up and do so. So, in order to cheer myself up, I am going to give YOU a present! (I always enjoy giving presents more than receiving them.) I am going to give one lucky reader one of my little boxy bags. This one is chocolate brown and blue, one of my favorite combinations. To be entered into the drawing all you have to do is leave a comment. You could share a humorous story, an embarrassing moment, a kind word, or just say hello! I will leave the comments open until midnight (CST) Friday night, then announce the lucky winner’s name on Saturday. Only one entry per person, please.

Awake

I am now awake and out of hibernation.  It has been a busy few weeks here at Casa de  Heather.  Many things have transpired, including quitting my old job, Christmas, my brother got engaged (congrats, Mark & Gretchen!),  I started a new job, my favorite uncle passed away suddenly, my newly married baby sister moved away with her new husband, and we had out of town guests at our house last week.  I have not even taken time to complete any knitting or sewing projects until today.

I am back on track and plan to blog regularly this year!  It is also my intent to do more sewing.  Working in a shop that sells fabric is hard – every day I see fabric that I want to bring home with me!  Today I pulled out my sewing machine and I hope to have new items in the shop soon.   I also have something special planned for tomorrow, so be sure to stop by and check it out!

Happy New Year!

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.  ~Numbers 6:24-26
