More than I Expected
September 28th, 2007
I need to thank those who have visited my Etsy shop so far. I am amazed and overwhelmed that some of my bags have sold so quickly. When I opened the shop last night, I hardly dared to hope that this would become a profitable endeavor. I am happy to announce that I had to hurry and restock the shop this afternoon!

for lily
September 27th, 2007

Ok, I know I promised an announcement quite a while ago, so here goes:
for lily, my new Etsy shop, is now open!!!!
The purpose of this shop is to help raise money for the adoption, hence the name “for lily.” I plan to list more items tomorrow when the lighting is better for taking pictures. The first items I am offering are my box bags that are such a convenient carrier for knitting projects. They also work well as cosmetic bags.

Finished for Fall
September 18th, 2007
Rather than fall shopping, I am doing some fall making! Adding the fall colors to my wardrobe helps me feel like autumn is really just around the corner, even though temps are still reaching 90° during the day. Last week was so nice and cool that I hoped autumn really had come, but I knew it was too good to be true.
FO: Rib and Cable Socks
I finished these warm autumn toned socks last week, but did not have time to post pics until today.

Pattern: Rib and Cable Socks from Interweave Knits, Fall 2005. I love this pattern because it fits so well. I have already started another pair!
Yarn: Superwash Merino in Central Park from Cherry Blossom Fibers

FO: Frenchy Bag

Having mastered my little sock project bag, I decided to branch out into a more complex sewing project. I picked up Amy Butler’s Frenchy Bag pattern at my local fabric shop. I had no idea this project would have me cut out no less than 22 pieces of fabric/interfacing…lol!

But after an evening of diligence that kept me up well after my bedtime, I finished the bag - complete with sew-in interfacing (I found that I prefer the fusible kind), lining, pockets, and magnetic clasp.

Now I think I may be ready to branch out a bit on my own. I like the general idea of the bag, but I want to redesign it and make some changes…so I will have to create new pattern pieces from scratch. We shall see how this goes.

I know I promised a big announcement, but said announcement is not yet ready to be announced. Sorry to keep stalling…

Transition
September 11th, 2007
I hope everyone is enjoying the slow transition into autumn as much as I am. The cool weather is a welcome relief after the long, hot, and humid summer. We have turned off the AC and opened the windows so we can enjoy the fresh air that breezes through the house.
With the changing seasons come other changes…I have a *big announcement* coming later this week!
*~*~*~*~*
But for now, I leave you with a bit of eye candy:

My camera died today, so I will not have new pictures on my blog until it is fixed or I purchase a new one. ![]()

Sew Much Fun!
September 5th, 2007

Wow! I never knew sewing could be so much fun! I was so motivated by finishing my first (machine) sewing project ever that I decided to make another and improve on what I had learned. I changed the dimensions a bit (3 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 7) so that the bag was wider than it was tall, remembered to put in little zipper pull tabs, and ironed each seam as I went so that it would have that “finished” quality. Guess what? I did not make any mistakes this time! Even on the inside the french seams are all neat and pretty! Now I have an insatiable desire to make more, more, more!
