FO: Monkey Socks

August 4th, 2007

monkey socks

I was inspired by Amanda’s and Kathy’s gorgeous monkey socks and had to make a pair of my own!

Yarn: Superwash sock yarn from Fearless Fibers in the Prosperity colorway. The yarn is very soft and the color is gorgeous. I think I even have enough yarn left over for a second pair of socks. I loved knitting with this yarn, however I did run across a few of undyed sections of yarn in the first sock (only about 1-2 stitches worth each, and they are not really noticeable after being knitted) and while knitting the second sock I found a knot in the middle of the skein. It was easily dealt with by cutting out the knot and doing a Russian join.

Pattern: Monkey socks from Knitty. I knitted it exactly as specified, except I used size 1 circs instead of size 2 DPNs, and the socks fit very nicely. I liked the pattern and will definitely knit another pair.

The Monkey socks are the next thing I’m casting on! I have to get a few projects done first though! Yours turned out very nice! I really like the yarn you chose.
