Last week I started hand piecing the nostalgia inspiring fabric for a lap quilt. After I got about 1/4 of the way done, I laid my blocks out on the floor to see how it was coming along. Before I started, I had drawn up (on my computer) a schematic of what the overall quilt was supposed to look like. When sewn up on patterned fabric, however, the effect was quite different from what I had hoped. Rather than looking like a carefully planned pattern it appeared disorganized and, well, schizophrenic. Try as I might, I cannot make myself like it. So I planned a different and nonoriginal pattern for the fabric and now the seam ripping shall commence.
